Open call for galleries

arteBA, the Buenos Aires art fair, invites galleries to submit applications for the next edition that will take place from April 11 to 14, 2019 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Galleries would be able to submit applications for Main Section and also for Utopia, the young section of the fair with a new exhibition space and new participation procedures.

Deadline: November 5
An autonomous selection committee conformed by Florencia Malbran (Independent curator, Buenos Aires), Eduardo Brandão (Director of Vermelho gallery, São Paulo), Henrique Faria (Director of Henrique Faria gallery New York / Buenos Aires), Julián Mizrahi (Director of Del Infinito gallery, Buenos Aires) and Ana Castella (current Chief of Development of the Tamayo Museum and organizer of Condo México 2018,Mexico City) will evaluate the galleries proposals and select the participants for arteBA 2019.

Stage. This new category will group together young galleries in booths of up to 40m2. Galleries having opened less than 5 years ago, representing young artists and participating in arteBA for the first time may apply, as may those that come from the Barrio Joven section. As a novelty for the next edition, the galleries may submit collaborative proposals with a gallery from another country, establishing a dialogue between them. These proposals will be evaluated by the same selection committee as the Main Section.
Cabinet. A specially highlighted section within each gallery showing one or several emblematic works by a single modern or contemporary artist. This format is a way for arteBA to offer public or private collections and institutions works that meet with their needs and interests. A consulting committee will be in charge of the selection.

Deadline: November 19
For its 28th edition, arteBA relaunches the young section of the fair with a new exhibition space and new participation procedures. Utopia seeks to create a different platform for the exhibition and sale of Latin American contemporary art for galleries and new or recently founded spaces to be outlined by defining characteristics of those galleries or spaces. arteBA invites to apply with the gallery/space profile and with the portfolio of represented artists to build and jointly challenge the usual models of participation. The curatorial team conformed by Alejandra Aguado (curator, Buenos Aires) and Carlos Herrera (artist and independent project producer, Buenos Aires) will work together with the selected galleries and spaces on the final exhibition project for arteBA 2019.
