arteBA invites galleries and emerging spaces to submit applications for the next edition of the fair that will take place from April 11 to 14, 2019.
For its 28th edition, arteBA relaunches the young section of the fair with a new exhibition space and new participation procedures. Utopia seeks to create a different platform for the exhibition and sale of Latin American contemporary art for galleries and new or recently founded spaces to be outlined by defining characteristics of those galleries or spaces. arteBA invites to apply with the gallery/space profile and with the portfolio of represented artists to build and jointly challenge the usual models of participation. The curatorial team conformed by Alejandra Aguado (curator, Buenos Aires) and Carlos Herrera (artist and independent project producer, Buenos Aires) will work together with the selected galleries and spaces on the final exhibition project for arteBA 2019.
The young section of arteBA is moving. 2019 edition will be embraced by a new pavilion.
The architecture of a space, which exhibits contemporary productions, is essential for thinking about the relationships between body and matter, between matter and space, between space and expression. Architecture becomes an emotional geography. The opportunity of change allows art to recover the possibility of revealing its own identity and that of its context of production free from precedents, which might dictate its ways of being and doing.
This move, like all of them, invites us to rethink and free ourselves. We expect that the encounter with this renewed identity will allow us to watch young spaces in the state of creation, construction, and transformation, which characterizes them. To watch them as they showcase their own daring and their bet to enliven our aesthetic experiences.
The possibility of coming together to discuss and think the characteristics of this renewal and each of the selected proposals will help us to sense thistransformation into the future. A geography of encounters. An artistic community manifesting itself.
