From Wednesday, May 24 to Saturday, May 27, the contemporary art publications section of the 26th edition of arteBA, Isla de Ediciones, will be open to visitors. Curated for the second time this year by Mariano Mayer (poet and independent curator, Madrid), Gastón Pérsico (artist and graphic designer, Buenos Aires) and Cecilia Szalkowicz (artist and graphic designer, Buenos Aires), Isla de Ediciones will feature six editorial projects by special invitation: Aeromoto and Alias from Mexico, Imprenta Rescate and Sta. Rosa editora from Argentina, TEOR/éTica from Costa Rica and Tijuana from Brazil. The section is sponsored by Fundación Proa and will also include the Permanencia (Permanence) exhibition, a connection that explores how artistic production is related to books in three artists’ work: Fernanda Fragateiro (Galería Elba Benítez), Estefanía Landesmann (Pasto) and Alejandro Montaldo (Quadro).
Books can be acquired from the primary art related publishing houses and from the editorial projects participating in the Independientes Isla de Ediciones + Pulso-Panorama de Publicaciones Independientes table. There will be presentations of both books and editorial projects, a series of talks and round table discussions.
The furnishings for the area are made of 100% recyclable steel, designed by Estudio Federico Churba and produced locally thanks to support from Ternium Siderar.
