This year, arteBA will have a new section, a space dedicated exclusively to performance. During each day of the fair, arteBA will be one of the venues hosting activities that are part of the Performance Biennial. In addition to artists’ live participation, Performance Box will offer a selection of videos representing iconic works, curated by Rodrigo Alonso. This project has been made possible thanks to the Bienal de Performance and support from ArtexArte.

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE BIENNIAL
The Performance Biennial is a private initiative whose primary objective is to celebrate and increase visibility for the art of performance. As a reflection of the plural, transversal nature of the practice it celebrates, the Bienal associates and dialogues with different institutions—from both the public and private spheres—such as museums, universities and art spaces. In this way it proposes to delineate a topography with diverse focal points from which experience can become more dynamic and more democratic. The Bienal de Performance includes live presentations of works—the majority of which are debut showings—as well as seminars, conferences and public encounters with invited artists. All these activities will take place in different venues, to generate multiple and simultaneous spaces of exhibition and reflection.
ArtexArte – Fundación Alfonso y Luz Castillo is a cultural space specializing in photography, video and new media. Thematic shows organized with guest curators are held in the exhibition space, accompanied by catalogs and an intense educational program. The Foundation is also host to academic activities led by nationally and internationally renowned figures, publishes books and organizes the Premio de Fotografía ArtexArte (ArtexArte Photography Prize), one of the field’s most prestigious competitions.
