“Contrastes y fugas” [Contrasts and Flights/Fugues] brings together, for the first time, a selection of recent and historical works – from the 1960s and ’70s – by the Argentine artist César Paternosto (La Plata, 1931), whose only medium is paper. This set of works makes evident Paternosto’s continuous need to evolve toward new plastic solution without losing the singular and reductive sense of structure, and heeding the sensual dimension of the pictorial, so characteristic of him. In his pieces we perceive a faint sensation of austerity, which inclines us to question the perception of the artistic deed, at the same time manifesting the artist’s sophistication and genuine calling. Paternosto lives and works in Segovia, Spain.
