MAIN SECTION

An autonomous selection committee composed by Eduardo Brandão (Director of Vermelho gallery, São Paulo), Ana Castella (Head of Development at Tamayo Museum and Coordinator of Condo México 2018, Mexico City), Henrique Faria (Director of Henrique Faria New York and Herlitzka + Faria, Buenos Aires), Florencia Malbran (Curator of Public Programs and Special Projects at MALBA- Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires) and Julián Mizrahi (Director of Del Infinito gallery, Buenos Aires) will evaluate the galleries proposals and select those that will participate in arteBA 2020.

STAGE

This category gathers and subsidizes a new generation of galleries in booths of approximately 40 m2. For the first time, galleries that represent young artists and that have been opened for less than 5 years, may apply. The same selection committee of the Main Section will be responsible for evaluating the proposals.

The selection committee is the same as the Main Section.

CABINET

It is a specially designed section within each gallery, exhibiting one or several emblematic works by a single modern or contemporary artist. With this proposal, arteBA offers to public or private institutions and collections works that meet with their needs and special interests. A Consulting Committee composed by Ruth Estévez (Senior-at-Large curator of the Brandeis University’s Rose Art Museum in Waltham, Massachusetts and co-curator of the 34th São Paulo Biennial), Florencia Malbran (Curator of Public Programs and Special Projects at MALBA- Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires) and Gabriela Rangel (Artistic Director at MALBA- Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires) will be responsible for evaluating the proposals.

SOLO SHOW

Solo Show is the section where Latin American artists and the galleries which represent them are invited to participate with individual exhibitions. The curators of the next edition will be João Mourão and Luis Silva, a curatorial duo based in Lisbon, currently co-directors of Kunsthalle Lissabon, a contemporary art institution founded in 2009.

The participaction in this section is in behalf of the curators.

CARDINAL SITE

A section that seeks to encourage collaborations and meeting points between Latin America and the rest of the world. Its purpose is to motivate dialogue between artists and galleries from different geographical locations and promote new relationships and exchanges. Applications to Cardinal Site will be available for galleries that participate in the Main Section, which will also act as hosts, inviting foreign galleries to participate for the first time at arteBA with a collaborative project that includes artists from both sides. An autonomous committee composed by Alessio Antoniolli (Director of Gasworks & Triangle Network, London), Sonia Becce (independent curator, Buenos Aires) and Ana Castella (Head of Development at Tamayo Museum and Coordinator of Condo México 2018, Mexico City) will be responsible for evaluating the proposals.

ISLA DE EDICIONES

The publications section of the fair includes guest editorial projects, a bookshop section specialized in contemporary art, and a collective space for independent publishing companies. Additionally, the Isla de Ediciones has its own auditorium with scheduled talks and book presentations.
